We met with the 3 Eco Schools Teachers to do some whole year planning. We decided to concentrate on choosing broad themes for each term. We chose ADVOCACY,WETLANDS, FROGS, HEALTH. We linked our activities to calendar day vz. World Wetlands Day, Leapfrog for Frogs Day, World Health Day and Water Week. We did displays, assemblies, a Frog Civvies day andgardening where we grew our veggies and suppplied the tuck shop with fresh green lettucs and rocket. We also did MiniSASS water testing in Jubilee Park. We also held our first ever Eco Club Induction Ceremony.
this term we made a concerted effort to focus on RECYCLING, ENERGY AND WATER USE, SELLING SOLAR JARS AND CONSOL BOTTLES, FUTUREWISE QUIZ, AND THE SUSTAINABILITY RESEARCH PROJECT. We had to also work to submit Project Proposals to Rotary for Funding. We also worked in the WETLANDS and did some ALIEN clearing. we did not do a Whole School Survey 1 as we used our results from 2013. We also had to maintain our garden.
This term we concentrated on re planting in the garden, maintaing the wetlands, clearing aliens etc. Main topics of focus were WORLD RHINO DAY, SLIPPER DAY, CASUAL DAY, NATIONAL CLEAN UP WEEK, AND WOMEN'S DAY. We had a special celebration of the Life of Maya Angelou for Women's Day, we planned a special Rhino Assembly, and we began our Reforestation Project by walking the area with Jean Senogles from the Westville Conservancy and tying hazard tape around the Aliens.
This term we concentrated on the PORTFOLIO and on maintenance of the ongoing projects around the school. We will need to cut back the wetlands after exams and we are also planning to do the second water test in Jubille Park. We will be presenting to the GBody and securing a GB representative from within the GB. This should augur well for the future.
